The Sentry

About

Since 1964, The Sentry has served as CU Denver’s premier source of campus and community news for students and members of the university community. This paper was historically published every Wednesday, but with the ever-evolving world of technology, we have moved to a website publication to remain relevant to our readers. However, we offer a print issue once a semester to remain close to our roots of handheld media. Once known as The Advocate, we revived the name The Sentry in the continued effort of retaining our rich history that has prevailed through the decades.

We boast a succinct team of eight editors serving not only this website, but one print issue each semester to showcase student work and the effort of freelance staff. CU Denver may not have a journalism program, but The Sentry serves as the opportunity to expose students to the world of journalism, learning practical skills in writing, editing, and publishing. Serving as a resource to the students, faculty, staff, and community members of Denver and the Auraria Campus, we offer coverage not only of on-campus events and topics but as well as broad coverage for the city of Denver, keeping news local and relevant to members of our community.

The Sentry, CU Denver’s student-run publication, strives to engage the student body through captivating creative media and hard-hitting journalism. We provide a platform for student voices to empower and connect our community.
